About Doheny Eye Institute
The Doheny Eye Institute is globally recognized as a leading center for patient care, advanced vision research, and clinical education. In conjunction with the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California, the Institute fulfills its founding mission to conserve, improve, and restore human eyesight. In recent years the USC Department of Ophthalmology and the Doheny Eye Institute has been ranked in the top 10 ophthalmology programs in the country by U.S. News & World Report and Ophthalmology Times. The new Doheny Retina Institute was established to emphasize clinical research and to speed the process of moving research findings to clinical care. The Retina Institute team has a record of success with the innovative “retina chip” designed to restore sight to patients with blinding retinal disorders.

Changes in Angle Configuration After Phacoemulsification Measured by Anterior Segment Optical Coherence Tomography.
Journal of Glaucoma (Sep 15 2008) Ophthalmology Explore Article
Purpose: To measure changes in angle width after phacoemulsification and intraocular lens (IOL) implantation using anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT). Materials and Methods: Twenty-one patients undergoing cataract surgery were recruited from the National University Hospital, Singapore. AS-OCT images were obtained of nasal and temporal angle quadrants before and at 1-month after surgery. Optical measurements of central anterior chamber depth were obtained, and gonioscopic measurement of angle width was recorded. ...Comment on Article Mentions: David Huang Keck School of Medicine Doheny Eye Institute

Comparison of the optical coherence tomographic features of choroidal neovascular membranes in pathological myopia versus age-related macular degeneration, using quantitative subanalysis
BJO Online (Jul 23 2008) Ophthalmology Explore Article
Aim: To compare the retinal morphological characteristics of eyes with choroidal neovascularisation (CNV) secondary to pathological myopia versus eyes with CNV secondary to age-related macular degeneration (AMD), using quantitative optical coherence tomography (OCT) subanalysis. Methods: Twenty-one eyes of 21 patients newly diagnosed as having CNV secondary to pathological myopia, and 43 consecutive cases of eyes with newly diagnosed subfoveal CNV secondary to AMD were retrospectively collected. In all patients, StratusOCT ...Comment on Article Mentions: Zeiss Stratus OCT Alexander Walsh Keck School of Medicine

Purpose To characterize the macular anatomy of retinal dystrophy eyes using high-speed, high-resolution, Fourier-domain optical coherence tomography (FD-OCT). Design Case-control study. Methods Retinal dystrophy patients and normal age- and gender-matched controls underwent FD-OCT imaging using the RTVue (Optovue Inc, Fremont, California, USA). Vertical and horizontal 8-mm scans of 1024 lines/cross-section were obtained. Based on boundaries manually drawn on computer displays of OCT cross-sections, the thicknesses of the retina, inner retinal ...Comment on Article Mentions: David Huang Keck School of Medicine Doheny Eye Institute
